Artist, Poet, Writer, Humanitarian, Philosopher, Good Friend and Loving Brother

Lee Powell left this mortal existence on April 28, 2008. Friends and family deeply grieve the loss of this great man. He was a true Renaissance man, being an intellectual genius, a gifted poet, a writer and artist.

He was always thinking of others, helping the helpless, the downtrodden and the hopeless. He was a gentle giant and my brother.

The good die young and the old linger. He was far too good for this some-times-violent world. He was a Vietnam-era veteran who proudly and voluntarily served his country in very turbulent times. He was a Seabee, building things instead of tearing them down. He received an honorable discharge as a Petty Officer 2nd Class.

His friends and family will miss him dearly. However, he will be as close as your own breath, if you know how to listen with an open heart with a pure and unselfish spirit. He was a Christian, Buddhist, Taoist, Hindu and a Jew, as he believed that “We do not have to think alike to love alike.”

He will be honored with a military funeral. Some of his ashes will be put in the veterans’ cemetery in Prescott, Ariz. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at the Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., Prescott, Ariz.

In lieu of flowers, we are requesting that donations be made to The Church on the Street homeless shelter as he was always helping the helpless, the discouraged and the homeless.

Please send donations to Church on the Street in care of Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., Prescott, AZ 86301.

Lee is survived by two brothers Hollis and Lance Powell. He is still with us; we are just unable to hug him or call him on the telephone.
His usual goodbye was always “Enjoy life.”

With love from your kindred spirit, your soul mate and your little sister who totally adores you ad always will. You are still my big brother and my guardian angel, just as you were in life.
