A. Gordon Ide, M.D. F.A.C.R., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, devoted friend and respected colleague, died at his home in Sun Lakes, Arizona on April 13, 2003.

Dr. Ide was born on January 10, 1911 in Rochester, NY. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Middlebury College and his medical degree from the University of Rochester where he completed his training.

He was a Veteran of WWII, serving his country at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Annapolis, Maryland. After the war he returned to Rochester and civilian life. At that time, he joined Dr. Joseph Green in practice. Two professional honors he valued most were being named a Fellow in the American College of Radiology and having the practice renamed The Ide Group.

In retirement, he had the time to take up golf and just loved playing with friends and family in Rochester and in Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marion O'Neil Ide and sons A. Gordon Ide, Jr. and Dr. Richard Smyth Ide.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Mary Ide O'Grady and James E. O'Grady of Phoenix, Arizona; sister Mrs. Dorothy Leonard of Rochester, NY; grandsons Richard and Christopher Hart and great grandson Nicholas Hart of Colorado. He is also survived by a niece, Karen Young of Marcella, NY and nephew, Terry Leonard of Honeyoye, NY.

A celebration of the wonderful life of this magnificent man will he held at a later date for our Rochester family and friends.

During his final days he was lovingly cared for by professionals from Hospice of the Valley.

In his memory, we request contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014. www.almooregrimshaw.com.
