Gwendolyn (Gwen) (Bates) Baird - Machula

Gwendolyn "Gwen" Bates Baird Machula, 89, of Globe died Sept. 25, 2003, at Heritage Health Care Center. She was born in Taylor.

A descendant of three generations of northern Arizona LDS pioneers, she was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by three sons, Paul Machula of Globe, Myron Machula of Kansas City, Mo., and Orville Baird of Cornville; three sisters, Pearl Solomon and Marjorie Whiting of Taylor, and Anita Schmaltz of Gallup, N.M.; one brother, Max Bates of California; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was conducted Sept. 30 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Globe Stake Center.

Interment was in Taylor Cemetery in Taylor.

Arrangements were under the direction of Lamont Mortuary of Globe.
