John M. Nutter, 83, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Prescott, passed away May 24, 2008, at his summer home in Pinetop, Ariz. He was born July 21, 1924, in Liberty, Mo.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave, Glendale, Ariz. Interment will be at Resthaven Park Cemetery, Glendale, Ariz.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Seabee Museum at the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Port Hueneme, Calif., or to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.

John Murray Nutter
(July 21, 1924 - May 24, 2008)

John Murray Nutter of Phoenix, Arizona, died suddenly on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at his summer home in Pinetop, Arizona. He was 83 years old.

John was born on July 21, 1924 in Liberty, Missouri to the late Frank & Grethel (Enlow) Nutter and they moved to Arizona while he was still a young boy. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II and receiving his honorable discharge he later continued to serve in the Naval Reserves until he retired as a Captain. He returned to Arizona about 50 years ago and has lived in Phoenix the majority of that time. John received his Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Mexico and worked as a civil engineer in highway and road construction throughout his life.

John is survived by his wife, Doris Marie (Lindley) Nutter of Phoenix, Arizona; 2 daughters: Linda Leeds (Arlan) of Phoenix, Arizona, Kathy Blackman (Bill) of Chino Valley, Arizona; 1 son, Frank Nutter (Katy) of Phoenix, Arizona; and 9 grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his only sister, Mary Callis.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Chapel of The Chimes, 7924 N. 59th Avenue in Glendale, Arizona where the visitation will begin 1 hour prior.

Interment will be at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale.

Local arrangements have been under the care of Owens Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel in Show Low.
