Rites pending for W.B. Harkleroad

WILLIAM BRUCE HARKLEROAD, 36, member of the Arizona Highway patrol, died at Community hospital at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday of a heart attack.

Mr. Harkleroad had testified in a trial in Judge R. L. Westall’s court at 1 p.m. and was on patrol on Highway 60 – 70 about 3 miles west of town with Patrolman Recruit Alan Hansen when he complained of being ill. Hansen rushed him to the hospital.

Funeral services had not been arranged when The Sun went to press.

A native of Phoenix, Mr. Harkleroad served 4 years in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Phoenix Fire Department for 11 years prior to joining the patrol in June 1959. All his patrol service was in Wickenburg area.

Surviving are the widow Ethel; two daughters, Diane, 14, and Candy 12; the mother, Mrs. E.T. Harkleroad of Casa Grande; one sister, Mrs. Tom Carlton of Casa Grande; and one brother, Roy Harkleroad of Phoenix.

Funeral services for W.B. Harkleroad were held at 2 p.m. last Saturday in the Paradise Chapel of Phoenix. Burial was in Memory Lane Cemetery there.

Mr. Harkleroad a member of the state highway patrol here since June, 1957 died in the Community hospital, February 7 following a heart attack.
