Rites in Phoenix for R. A. Willis

R. A. WILLIS, 86, a resident of Wickenburg for 36 years died at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. N.F. Fraser, in Phoenix where he was visiting.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today (Friday) in the Mortensen-Kinsley Mortuary in Phoenix with Bruce Hunt, president of the LDS Church in Wickenburg officiating.

Burial will be in the Mesa Cemetery.

Mr. Willis was born in Kenora, Utah, October 3, 1876 and went with his family to Snowflake, Ariz., when he was 2 years old. He had lived in Wickenburg since 1926.

Mr. Willis once operated a cotton ranch at Chandler, was active for years in the building trade, worked on Arizona’s highways for many years, starting when horses were used to pull equipment, and for nine years was the state livestock inspector here.

Eight children survive. They are R.K (Kink) and Warren of Wickenburg; Marlin and Lester of Phoenix, Larry of Santa Cruz, Calif.; Arthur of Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. Aleta Lundquist of Stockton, Calif., and Mrs. Leora Fraser of Phoenix. Also survive are a brother Heber Willis of Mesa, 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
