The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Az. October 26, 2005 Sam W. Russell A memorial service for Mr. Sam W. Russell, age 79, who passed away Sunday, Oct. 16 at Sun Health Hospice in Sun City West, Ariz., was held Sunday, Oct. 23 at 4:30 p.m. at Frey-Wickenburg Funeral Home. Mr. Russell was born Feb. 23, 1926 in Johnston City, Ill., to Thomas Russell and Edna Thorwell Russell. He graduated from Phoenix Union High School Class of 1943 and later Phoenix College as well as Arizona State College. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked for Garrett Corporation for 34 years as a design engineer and master designer of turbine engines in the air research division. He was a member and past president of the Garrett Retirees Club of Prescott and a member of the Garrett 4x4 club. He established the Phoenix Easter Seals Kids' Ride by the Garrett 4x4 Club. He was a resident of Wickenburg for 15 years. Mr. Russell is survived by his wife Pauline Russell of Wickenburg; daughter Shawna J. Russell of Scottsdale; son and daughter-in-law Scot Russell and Diane Cowdrey of Salt Lake City, Utah; son and daughter-in-law Brent and Gail Russell of Everett, Wash.; son Patt Russell of Tempe; son and daughter-in-law Kit and Michelle Russell of Scottsdale; step-children Freeman Carney and Donna Mustoe of Phoenix and Paul Carney of Prescott; grandchildren Maggie Russell, Thomas Russell, Cory Tallman, Amanda Russell, Shane Russell, Spencer Russell, Colin Russell, Brian Mustoe, Freeman Carney, Jr., Nick Carney; and one grandson Jaiden Russell.
