Anita (Grijalva) Garcia

Anita Grijalva Garcia, 90, was called home to the Lord on Friday, Oct. 28, 2005 at her home in Wickenburg, Ariz. Anita was born April 13, 1915 and was a pioneer and lifetime resident of Wickenburg.

Anita is remembered for the wonderful music that she shared with everyone, her beautiful smile, fantastic tamales (she was the founder of Anita's Cocina in Wickenburg), and also known for her traditional altar displayed each Christmas season.

She is preceded in death by her parents Rudolpho and Marcelina Garcia, children Margarita and David, sister Vera Chetham, brothers Eugene Garcia, George Garcia, Rudy Garcia, Arthur Castro, Adolph "Doc" Garcia, and Fred Quinonez. She is survived by her children, Martin and Fran Jaime, Micaela Jaime, Elvera Jaime, Anita Padron, Elodia Chavez, and Fred Jaime, brother Joseph Garcia, 18 grandchildren, eight nieces and 13 nephews, and countless friends and family who were touched by her love.

Viewing and visitation took place on Sunday, Oct. 30 at Frey-Wickenburg Funeral Home in Wickenburg, Ariz., from 4-8 p.m. A rosary was said by Father George E. Highberger.

Funeral mass took place on Monday, Oct. 31 at 12 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with burial immediately following the mass at the Garcia Cemetery.
