Florence Mae Hatch Moody

Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Mae Hatch Moody, who passed away Nov. 9 in Phoenix, will be held Saturday (Nov. 19) at 10 a.m. at the Community Bible Church in Aguila with Pastor Dan Carlson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Eagle Eye Cemetery in Aguila.

She was born August 1, 1918 in San Antonio, Texas, to Stella Mae and Harry Hatch.

She moved to Aguila at the age of 10 - soon after the death of her mother - with her father and brothers Harold Gale Hatch and John Robert Hatch (now deceased).

She was welcomed into the arms of Venia and Lena Powell, who were the first settlers in Aguila. Florence, along with Julia Powell, went into the cactus candy business (Cactus Candy Maids) along with being a ranch hand.

Later, Florence married Floyd Moody (deceased), and they became saloon owners, operating the Desert Schooner. They remained close to the Powell family and friends, roaming the desert for rocks, bottles and Indian artifacts.

She was preceded in death by brothers Harold G. Hatch and John R. Hatch; husband Floyd Moody; and nephew Alfred R. Hatch.

Florence leaves behind nephew John Robert Hatch of Phoenix, nieces Silvia Maxwell and Linda Loveless both of California. She also leaves other nieces and nephews, along with her beloved Powell family and friends.

Vaya con Dios, Florence.
