Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona November 2005 Carol passed away November 11, 2005, in Cincinnati, Ohio, with her daughter at her side. She was 68 years young. Carol was the daughter of Harry and Gertrude (Simms) Elbin, both deceased. Born Sept. 30, 1937, in Morgantown, W. Va., Carol moved to Bethel, Ohio in 1945. She graduated from Bethel Tate High School in the class of 1955 and delivered its 50th reunion keynote speech last May. After receiving a scholarship to the University of Cincinnati, Carol began her long career in broadcasting. While completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, she worked in the advertising and promotion department at WCPO TV in Cincinnati. This led to Carol's nine-year tenure as a promotion manager, riter, producer and onair host in Syracuse, N.Y. at WNYS-TV, an ABC affiliate she was instrumental in aunching. Carol continued in television promotion and production in several markets, including Prescott, where she managed press, public service events and programming at KUSK and Prescott's Community Access Channel. In 1977 -78, Carol applied her interest in politics as a key coordinator for John Warner's first victorious U.S. Senate campaign in Virginia. In recent years, her passion for film and western memorabilia grew into a business for which she traveled the country dealing in collectibles. Carol possessed an unusual sense of adventure, a verve that inspired those who crossed her happy trails. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Denise Schell of Virginia and son-in-law, William Erdek; a sister, Dolores Jean Ellis of Amelia. Memorial service will be held on Dec. 4th at 2 pm. at Kennedy-Stevens Funeral Home in Bethel, Cincinnati. Information provided by survivors. |
