Rufus C. Scott

Rufus C. Scott, a resident of Wittmann for the past 10 years where he helped organize and was an active member of the Wittmann Volunteer Fire Department, died April 19 in Community Hospital here following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. April 22 at the Wickenburg Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Bert Follmar and burial followed in the Wickenburg Cemetery.

Born May 31, 1903 in Swanton, Ohio, Mr. Scott was with the Auto Lite Co., in Toledo Ohio, for a quarter of a century before his retirement and removal to Arizona 20 years ago.

He was well known and highly regarded in the Wittmann area where he had a host of friends to all of whom he was known as “Scotty.”

Surviving are his wife Beatrice; two sons, Carl Scott of Toledo and Bernard Scott of Lake Worth, Florida; one daughter, Mrs. Everett Gillmore of Fremont, Calif.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
