Barbara J. Boyle

Mrs. Barbara J. Boyle passed away on March 22, 2004. A native Arizonan, Barbara was born July 6, 1921, in Humboldt, and grew up in Yavapai County.

She attended Yavapai County public schools, and graduated from Prescott High School. She accepted a position with Superior Court Judge William Patterson, after graduating, and transferred to the Clerk of the Superior Court Office, beginning an illustrious career that spanned 42 years.

Barbara first ran for and was elected to the office of Clerk of the Superior Court in 1966. The voters re-elected to consecutive terms until she chose to retire from the position in 1986. Barbara's main responsibilities included tracking and implementing the many changes in Arizona law, managing civil and criminal court cases, including dissolutions and probate actions, as well as handling passport applications and marriage licenses. Barbara also oversaw the automation and computerization of the Court's child support programs and jury functions. Everyone respected and admired Barbara Boyle for her overriding sense of duty and dedication to the people of Yavapai ounty who elected her to office so many times.

In addition to her active participation in numerous civic and charitable organizations, Barbara was a member and past President of the Yavapai County Democratic Women's Club. She was also a devoted member of Sacred Heart Parish.

Barbara married Mr. James P. Boyle, Jr. on Sept. 21, 1956. The remained married for over 47 years, until Mr. Boyte passed away on April 4, 2003.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Patty Boyle of Encinitas, Calif., as well as her sisters, Mary Headington of Mesa, Kay Bruni of Scottsdale, her brother, Frank Cvetkovich of Prescott and loving nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Visitation and Rosary will be held at Heritage Memory Mortuary, located at 131 Grove Avenue, in Prescott, on Sunday, March 28th, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 29th, at Sacred Heart Church, located at 150 Fleury Avenue, in Prescott, at 11 a.m.

Donations may be made in Barbara's memory to the Margaret T. Morris Center, 878 Sunset, Prescott, AZ 86302.
