Eleanor (Gillespie) Pavlak

Eleanor Pavlak, age 92, a twenty-two year resident of Prescott, and more recently, a six-year resident of Severna Park, Md., passed away at Montgomery Hospice Casey House, in Maryland, on Jan. 31, 2004. Eleanor was born on Saturday, Jan. 12, 1912, in Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., the daughter of Worthen Gillespie and Julia Lancaster.

After high school, she moved to New York City for three years of training as a Registered Nurse. She then worked as a RN for 10 years, prior to meeting her husband. Eleanor married Alex Sr., in New York City, on Oct. 2,1942. They moved to West Paterson, New Jersey, where they raised their three children. Eleanor continued a part-time private duty RN practice.

Eleanor and Alex Sr. retired to Prescott, in 1974. Alex Sr. passed away in 1995. In 1996, Eleanor moved to Denver, Colo., then to Severna Park, to live her last days with her son Alex, Jr.'s family.

Eleanor was the devoted mother to Alex Pavick, Jr., his wife, Bonnie; Frank Pavlak, his wife, Linda; and Bob Pavlak, and his wife, Bridget. Eleanor is survived by four grandchildren, Brian, Heather, Katie, and Michael. She is also survived by his sister, Doris; nieces, Julie and Louise; and nephew, Richard.

Eleanor's wish was to be buried in Prescott with her late husband Alex Sr. There will be a graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 3.
