Charles Floyd (Chuck) Olson

Chuck Olson of Prescott, Ariz. passed away June 17, 2008, in Prescott, Ariz. He was born May 11, 1927, in San Diego, Calif., raised in Texas but spent most of his life in Arizona.

Chuck served in World War II in the 11th Airborne in the Pacific. He received Pacific Theater Medal with One Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Medal, World War Victory Medal and a Purple Heart. He was lifetime member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, Member 237. He also was a member of the Northern Arizona All Airborne Association, life member of American Legion Post 78, member of VFW Post 541, member of the 11th Airborne Association, life member of the F.O.P. Chuck was a valued volunteer at the VA hospital in Prescott with over 3,500 hours volunteered.

Chuck retired from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Department as a patrol sergeant. He also spent much of his life as a blacksmith and horse trainer in Phoenix and the Prescott area.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Frances; four children, Chuck Jr., Russell, Sylvia and Cindy; four grandchildren, Elisa, Natasha, Sahhara and Zayed; sister-in-law Connie; brother-in-law and best friend Johnny.

A gathering of friends and celebration of his life will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2008, at the Prescott Veterans Affairs Chapel, 500 N. Highway 89 with Pastor Jim Jones.

Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 6 Honor Guard. Interment will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, Ariz.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Family Hospice Care, 100 E. Sheldon St., Prescott, AZ 86301.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Hampton Funeral Home.
