Charles Leon Burton, 85, of Prescott, born Sept. 1, 1918,in Ansonia, Ohio, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, in Prescott.

Private cremation will be at the Bradshaw Crematory, Prescott Valley. The family is planning a memorial service at a laterdate.

Charles L. "Tony" Burton, 85, died Tuesday, April 13, 2Q04, at Fort Whipple Veterans Medical Center in Prescott, Arizona.

He was born September 1, 1918, in Ansonia, Ohio, the son of Russell E. and Ella I. (Kreider) Burton.

After high school, Tony served his country in the United States Army during WWII, earning the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat.

He later met and married the love of his life, Joyce Baker. Tony worked as a printer for many years.

He moved to Arizona in 1935 from Indiana. The couple moved to Prescott in 1972.

He was a life member of the American Legion in Greenville, Ohio. He was
also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #360.

Tony enjoyed camping,fishing and traveling. He was proud of his family,
especially his children and grandchildren.

Tony is survived by his loving wife Joyce of Prescott; daughters and sons-in-law, Flora and Joseph McCoy of Goodyear, Ariz., and Patti and Bryan Krugerd of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; son-in-law,
Conrad Moeller of Sun City, Ariz.; nieces, Marsha and Dennis Ingram of Seligman, Ariz., Anita Cunningham of Union City, Ind., and Linda Eurtar, also of Union City, Ind.; a nephew, Anthony Burton of Union City, Ind. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Imogene Burton of Union City, Ind.; grandchildren, Theresa, Anthony, Heather and Eric;
great-grandchildren, Kersti, Mickey, David, Brenden and Breanna.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Raymond, and
daughter, Sharon.

Memorial services are planned for 2 p.m. May 1 at the Burton family home.

A private cremation was held by Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley.

The family suggests contributions in Tony's name to the American Heart
Association, 2929 S. 48th St., Tempe, Az., 85282 or Hospice of Ft. Whipple VA. Medical Center, 500 Highway 89, Prescott, Az., 86313.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
