Harry Owen Monasmith

Harry O. Monasmith, age 90, died March 25, 2004, at John C. Lincoln
Hospital in Phoenix. He was born in Lincoln, Neb. April 13, 1913,
the son of Harry F. and Catherine (Worthington) Monasmith.

In 1922, with his parents, he moved to Peoria, and in 1925 they
moved to the Prescott area. Harry attended and graduated from
Miller Valley school.

Harry worked at the Iron King Mine in 1938. He helped build the St.
Michael Hotel and the cement grandstand at Ken Lindley Field. In
the forties, he worked for Bagdad Mine and then Crown King Mine. He
opened the Yavapai Food Company in Dewey in 1955, which later became
the Monasmith Oil Company. The company that Harry started is still
serving people in Central and Northern Arizona, as the Rea Max Oil,
operated bya great-grandson.

Harry had been very active in the community, serving on the Mayer
School Board and as a member of Smoki People, Aztlan Lodge #1, F. &
A.M., the York Rite Bodies, El Zaribah Shrine, and in 1969, as
President of the Yavapai Shrine Club and a member of the B.P.O. Elks
330.

Harry is survived by his beloved Rose, his loving caring friend; his
sons and their wives, Harry Wayne and Marie Monasmith and Robert
LeRoy and Alicia Monasmith; and five grandchildren, Debbie, Tayna,
Shawn, Wayne Jr. and Crystal.

A Celebration of Harry's Life will be at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday,
March 31, 2004, at the Arizona Rufner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303
South Cortez, in Prescott, with Gary Hawley officiating.

The family will be receiving friends Tuesday, March 30th, from 3 to
6 p.m., at the funeral home. Masonic Graveside services with Ted
Snowden P.M., with officers and members of Aztlan Lodge, will be at
Mountain View Cemetery.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with the
arrangements.
