Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Thursday, April 8, 2004 Gladys Mae Learned passed away Tuesday, April 6. 2004, at the Prescott Samaritan Village in Prescott. She was born in St. Albans, Vt., Dec. 7, 1912, the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Meigs) Lapan., Gladys was the youngest of four children and was preceded in death by sisters, Grace Dumser and Ruth Lapan, and by her brother, Norman Lapan. She married Raymond A. Learned on Dec. 12, 1934, and they lived on the family farm in Cambridge, Vt. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond who passed away on Feb. 2, 1969. Gladys drove a school bus from 1941 to 1954. In the 60s, she built and remodeled homes in Georgia and Milton, Vt. She moved to, Prescott, in 1981, to be near her daughters. She is survived by her daughters, Ruth Brandt and her husband, Bob, Donna Learned and her husband, John Stelmach, both of Prescott, and her son, John Learned and his wife, Beverly of Cambridge, Vt. Gladys is also survived by her grandchildren, Debra Ratliff, Lori Miller, Jack Learned, Cheryl Terpstra. Marshall Learned, Diane Tinker, and Jeremy Learned; 15 great-grandchildren, and one niece, Doris Stygles. Private cremation will be held at Bradshaw Crematory, in Prescott Valley. Inurnment will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, May 14th, at Mountain View Cemetery in Cambridge, Vt. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her. Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements. Information provided by survivors. |
