Shirley J. Meyer, age 65, passed away June 11 in Parker, Ariz. Graveside services were held on Monday, June 16 at the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery.

Shirley was born November 30, 1942 in Wickenburg, Ariz. Shirley had resided in Big River, Calif., for the last 18 years.

Shirley was and avid volunteer and philanthropic supporter. She volunteered her time and services as an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She served at St. Vincent de Paul and Hospice of Havasu, Friends of the Library in Parker, and American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, Post 466.

She loved her family with all her heart, and was available for all of us - husband, children, grandchildren, cousins, aunts and uncles - through the good times and the bad. She always lent an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. She always made us feel like we were the most important things on this earth.

Shirley had a great sense of humor, she was a charter member of the “Maxine’s Fan Club.” She always had jokes, and liked to make us laugh. We will miss her dearly, and heaven has truly received an angel.

She is survived by husband Carl Meyer, children Teresa Sasnett, Mary Vasquez and her husband Arthur Vasquez, Jr., William Allen Sasnett and his wife Barbara Sasnett, John Meyer and his wife Tracey Meyer, and Jeff Meyer;, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, uncle John and Jackie Allen, and cousin and best friend Wanda Robinson, as well as many other cousins who will all miss her dearly.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home & Crematory.
