Eugene J. (Gene) Montague

Gene Montague passed away on June 16 in Glendale. He was born Oct. 20, 1936 in Newark, N.J.

He was preceded in death by his wife Fran, baby Nicole and son Chris. He is survived by his daughter Lisa, grandsons Corey and Calvin, his sister Joan McNicol and her husband Jack. He leaves behind many family and friends in Wisconsin and Wickenburg that will miss him dearly.

Gene loved spending time with people, especially his grandsons Corey and Calvin. His hobbies included video games, cribbage, smoking, and drinking Pepsi.

He was active in the Marine Corps League as Chaplain, the American Legion and former Commander, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and the Elks.

Throughout his life his career was mostly in the trucking industry which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Services will be held on June 26 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Wickenburg with Father George Highberger officiating. After the church service, there will be a ceremony held at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix at 1 p.m. Following the ceremony at the cemetery, there will be a memorial at the Rancho Bar 7 Restaurant from approximately 2:30 to 5 p.m.

Arrangements have been made by David’s Desert Chapel Funeral Home in Wickenburg.
