John Yount was born in Prescott on Sept. 6, 1940, to Clarence E. Yount and Florence B. Yount and left this world on Jan. 24, 2005, in Hanford, Calif. My dad was a kind and generous man. He was, as I liked to call him, "A walking Encyclopedia." Ask him a question and he always had an answer. Though I didn't get to spend a lot of time with him, every moment I did was memorable.

John was an educator for many years in California and Arizona. Agriculture was his passion, so that is what he taught for all those years.

John is survived by his two daughters, Amy Yount of Tipton, Calif., and her three sons, Zak, Lukas and Nikolas; and P.J. Yount of Selma, Calif., and her son, Bradley Reed.

Dad's ashes will be taken back to Prescott to be laid to rest with his parents, whom he missed so deeply. He will be greatly missed.
