Janet Mahany, age 53, of Prescott Valley, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center. The cause was cancer.

A resident of the Prescott area for the past 25 years, she was born Janet Davidson in Indianapolis, Ind., on June 17, 1951, and moved with her family to Phoenix as a young girl.

Janet didn't believe there was anything she couldn't do. She once wired a house, learning the trade from a library book. She sewed wedding dresses for two daughters. She designed and decorated a whole wing for her church.

She was generous, generous with her love and her time. She was compassionate. She was soft-hearted. She never let anyone cry alone. She even cried over the stories of strangers she saw on the news. Her spirit, so strong and so determined, never wavered. Not even at the end. At the core of it, her faith in the Lord burned like an inextinguishable candle in the darkest night.

Mrs. Mahany is survived by her adoring husband, Michael; three loving daughters, Angie (Al) Tessitore, Cindy (Phil) Rousselle, and Lana (Chris) Baldwin; five grandchildren, Brianna and Kaily Tessitore, Taylor Roberts, Zamora Baldwin and Aleena Rousselle; her mother, Clara Davidson; three brothers and a sister; many nephews and nieces; and a host of dear friends.

Funeral services were held Jan. 29th at Living Faith Christian Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Janet Mahany Fund, to help defray medical debt, would be greatly appreciated. Contributions to the fund may be sent to Living Faith Christian Center, 7225 North Coyote Springs Road, Prescott Valley, Ariz., 86314, in honor of Janet Mahany.
