Dennis Keith Nagel, 68, of Knoxville, Tenn., born Feb.18,1942 at Briceton, Ohio, and passed away March 27 at his home in Knoxville.

He was under Hospice Home Care for stage-four pancreatic cancer, which was diagnosed and confirmed in May of 2009. We are truly thankful for the time the chemo did give us with Dennis. We also had excellent service from Thompson Oncology Group, especially Dr. Allen Grossman, who did all he could, and Coventry Home Health and Home Hospice Care.

He was preceded in passing by his parents Ralph and Anna Nagel. He is survived by his wife Joyce of Tennessee; brother Richard of Congress; daughter Wendy of Tennessee; son Vince (Ann) of Utah with grandchildren Taler, Ariel, Tiffany, SarahAnn, Bethany, Shanalee, Melissa, Loralyn and Ryan; step-daughter Michelle (fianc/e Dale) of Georgia; and grandson Larkin of Florida.

Dennis held many jobs in his lifetime including the United States Army, State of Arizona Highway Department, but he retired from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office with 20 years service. He really enjoyed his time in the Warrants and Extradition Section. He retired as a Detective Sgt. from that section of the sheriff’s office.

His favorite things were cooking and traveling. He loved the Food Network. Once retired, we moved to Congress, Ariz., and he had a lot more time for his cooking and our traveling. One of his proudest moments was helping the Congress Water Company to become the Congress Water Improvement District.

In August 2004 we relocated to Tennessee. The last time he felt like traveling, our Tennessee daughter drove us to see our Georgia daughter. He really loved seeing Savannah.

He also really missed Pastor Paul at Yarnell Community Presbyterian Church and all the friends he had made there.

His wish to be donated for research was unable to be granted, so he was cremated and his cremains have been interred near a miniature Japanese maple tree in our front yard.

Donations in his name may be made to the Yarnell Community Presbyterian Church, c/o Pastor Paul Jones, P.O. Box 272, Yarnell, AZ 85362.
