Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ October 11, 2003 Frank "Ferdinando" Zanzucchi, 85, of Flagstaff, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003. He was born July 25, 1918, in Jerome to Ferdinando and Ermalinda Pinelli Zanzucchi. In 1929, when Mr. Zanzucchi was 12, the Zanzucchi family moved to Flagstaff and purchased the Flagstaff Dairy. Mr. Zanzucchi graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1936 and continued to help his parents operate the dairy farm and deliver fresh milk to many Flagstaff families and businesses. On New Year's Eve 1942, Mr. Zanzucchi was married to Sarah "Sally" Atwood of Reserve, N.M. Together they had 12 children. Mr. Zanzucchi was a Flagstaff Little League coach for more than 20 years and enjoyed watching his own children participate in the Flagstaff Little League, as well as various other sports. Mr. Zanzucchi also was a lifelong member of the B.P.O.E. (Elks' club), where he enjoyed socializing with friends and strangers alike. The Flagstaff Dairy was sold in 1980, at which time Mr. Zanzucchi took over the family restaurant, Granny's Closet. His dedication to this business was evident, as he worked there until he died. Mr. Zanzucchi will be lovingly remembered for his admirable work ethic that has been an inspiration to all that knew him, and always for his love and devotion to family and friends. Mr. Zanzucchi is survived by his wife, Sally; children Frank, Hank, Matt, Martin, Linda (Castillo), John, Tim, Joe, Terry, Jimmy and Vinny; 24 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; sister Arizona Lake; brother Paul; and an infant son, Kenneth. Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7 p.m. at The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the NBVM chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Vincent de Paul or The Sunshine Rescue Mission.
