James Harry Kepner

James Harry Kepner (Jim), 69, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away on June 28, 2008, after a valiant struggle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Velma Kepner, his loving wife of 44 years Shirley Kepner, sister Kathy Wildman and oldest son Randy Kepner.

He is survived by two sons, Wally and wife Shawne, and Scott and wife Kathy; six grandchildren, Michael, Robert, Danny, Rebecca, Shayna and William; and two great-grandchildren, Clarissa and Esmund.

Jim loved camping, fishing and hunting with his family and friends. He helped to guide many young kids with his devotion to coaching in both Pop Warner football and Little League baseball. He even coached a women’s Powder Puff football team called the West Wild Women.

Jim retired from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office as a Corporal in 1983. He spent the majority of his career as a Major Crimes Investigator.

A celebration of life ceremony, by his sons and friends, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008, in the Granite Mountain room at the Prescott Resort, 1500 Highway 69 in Prescott, Ariz. A buffet lunch will follow the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the YRMC Hospice in Prescott (928-759-5910 for information) or favorite charity.
