Mertice E. (Pat) Schmidt was born in St. Joseph, Mo. Jan. 17, 1920, the daughter of Oscar and Isabel Schmidt.

She and her family were members of First English Lutheran Church where Pat was an active member of the Senior Luther League.

Her major volunteer work in Denver was her church and the United Nations Association. In Prescott it was the Prescott Public Library’s book sales department.

Pat leaves two cousins in St. Joseph, Mo., Wheeler Schmidt and Dorothy Schmidt Shaw; a niece, Mary Lou Hamilton (Mrs. William) of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Ruth Auchenback, a long-time friend with whom she shared a casita at Good Samaritan Society-Prescott Village.

Services will take place at a later date in St. Joseph, Mo. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at the chapel of Good Samaritan Society-Prescott Village with Pastor Wally Cole from American Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.
