LaVesta D. (McCulloch) Gardner

LaVesta Gardner of Wickenburg, died May 30 in Phoenix. She was 92.

Mrs. Gardner was born LaVesta D. McCulloch on Jan. 7, 1908 in Roseburg, Ore., to Jess and Maude Reese McCulloch. Both of her parents’ families came across the Oregon Trail.

She graduated from Medord (Ore.) High School and married Fred H. Gardner on Jan. 8, 1926. Her husband preceded her in death in 1988.

She worked for Harry and David as a supervisor for many years. Following her retirement, she pursued her art interests and had an art gallery in Jacksonville Masonic Building before she moved to Wickenburg, where she had an art studio and gave lessons.

Mrs. Gardner was a 50-plus year member and Past matron of Adarel Chapter No. 3, Order of the Eastern Star in Jacksonville, Ore.

Survivors include two sons, Fred M. Gardner of Canyon City, Ore. and Jack Gardner of Lancaster, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests that any contributions in Mrs. Gardner’s memory be made to the Shriners Hospital in Portland, Ore., or a charity of choice.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. at the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. past or Dennis Smith will officiate.

The Wickenburg Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
