Nathalie Mahoney – Wickenburg lost one of its best-loved citizens with the death of Nathalie Mahoney on August 9.

Mrs. Mahoney devoted her life to helping others and working with worthwhile organization.

Nathalie Forsythe Mahoney, 79, was born in Bevard, North Carolina. She had lived in Wickenburg 5 years, having moved here from Oakland, California where she and her husband, Harold had lived for many years.

Mrs. Mahoney was a graduate of Winthrop College, North Carolina. She and Harold C. Mahoney were married in 1943. Mr. Mahoney served overseas during World War I.

Interment will be in the Whipple National Cemetery, Whipple, Arizona.

In 1918 Mrs. Mahoney was nursing in Atlanta, Georgia during the flu epidemic. Later she worked in San Francisco. She was also an expert horsewoman.

In 1927 she trained medical students in California.

The Mahoneys were life members of the East Bay Mineral Society and served as co secretaries of the California Federation of Mineral Societies.

Mrs. Mahoney taught over 150 pupils the Wm. Mader method of making cabochons as well as the art of faceting. One of her pupil’s recently won an award.

As a team, the Mahoneys exhibited their work at most western gem and mineral shows and she will be sadly missed by countless friends.

Survivors include her husband, Harold of Wickenburg and 4 nephews and 2 nieces out of state.
