The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 10/05/2004 Richard Schluter, 68, died Sept. 30, 2004 at his home in Snowflake. He was born in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin March 24, 1936, where he was raised and attended school. Following school he moved to Superior, and worked for Magma Copper. He later moved to Mesa and continued his work with Magma Copper until his retirement in 1980. In 1986 he moved to Snowflake and worked for Hatch Construction until his health would no longer allow him to do so. Richard is survived by his wife, Evelyn L. Schluter of Snowflake; six daughters, Mary Due of Amity, Oregon, Terry Barile of Knoxville, Tennessee, Gerri Tutrone, Connie Mayhew and Robin Mayhew all of Mesa and Tammie Garcia of Miami, ; two sons, Jimmy Mayhew and Terry Lowe of Snowflake; one brother, Melvin Schluter of Madison, Wisconsin; two sisters, Doris Roberts of Stoughton, Wisconsin and LaVonne Rogers of Belleville, Wisconsin; 22 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Richard James Schluter. Graveside services were held Saturday, Oct. 2 at RV "Mike" Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake.
