Gary L. Walker, Ph.D. died July 30, 2005 after long battle with cancer. Born on August 22, 1956 in Flagstaff AZ.

Dr. Walker is survived by his life partner Kevin L. HOKERK. his mother Nancy EVERETT and husband Ray, father Del WALKER, sister Barbara NEWBY and husband Rick, and two brothers Richard WALKER and wife Fanny, and Michael WALKER and wife Tammy and several nieces and nephews.

Dr. WALKER received his Ph.D. in American Literature at Arizona State University where he was a professor of English. Gary was the Zone IV Director of the American Spaniel Club, Inc. A life long passion was the breeding and showing of American Cocker Spaniels and he had finished over 30 dogs to their AKC Championship. Dr. WALKER was also the Secretary of the Cocker Spaniel Club of Arizona, Inc., and was a member of the Sahuaro State Kennel Club.

Gary enjoyed mentoring people new to the cocker fancy and personally showing is own dogs at local, regional and national shows. A high point was showing two of his own dogs at the Westminster Kennel Club and receiving an Award of Merit for both dogs.

Gary was a member of the United States Air Force where he attained the rank of Sergeant and received an Honorable Discharge as an Avionics Sensor Systems Specialist in 1980.

No services will be held at this time; a private interment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Spaniel Club Foundation, Office of the Secretary, 30 Cardinal Loop, Crossville, TN 38555.
