Maria Fercec passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 69 on July 9, 2008, in Prescott, Ariz. She was born Dec. 2, 1938, in Baranja, Hungary, to Joseph and Agnes Deli.

As a teenager, Maria traveled throughout Europe before moving to Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, at 19. Shortly after, she married and started a family of three. In 1977, the family moved to the U.S. to Lake Havasu City, Ariz. Some years later the family suffered the loss of her oldest child, Beata. Maria stayed strong for her family. She later divorced and raised two teenage sons on her own.

Maria worked different jobs throughout her life, but none as proud as becoming a CNA after moving to Prescott Valley in 1992. She also became a U.S. Citizen in 2001, another great day in her life.

Maria believed in giving more than receiving, which she did passionately. She was always very loving, compassionate and loyal to all. Her inspiration and commitment to live a life of love and happiness enriched us all, working always to achieve peace and harmony for everyone.

Maria loved the outdoors – especially her yard. Plants loved her green thumb. Beauty not only describes her, it also was in everything she did. Listening to the birds was her music and she adored her puppy, Sheila.

Maria is survived by her sisters, Kapics Belane and Kovacs Gasparne and their families, all of Hungary; and her sons, Otto and Christopher, and their families. She was especially proud of her two grandchildren, Brian Charles and Grace Johanna.

A viewing and memorial service will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Sunrise Funeral Home in Prescott Valley. There will be a reception following at her home. Burial will be in Lake Havasu City at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008. Anyone needing more information may call 928-541-7811.
