Barbara Jean (Nichols) King

Barbara Jean King, 60, of Miami passed away Dec. 26, 2006 at her residence.

She was born in Charleston, West Virginia, Aug, 27, 1946 to Sylvia (Gillispie) and Clarence Allen Nichols. A 36-year Arizona resident, she worked various positions while raising four children as a single mother. The last ten years she dedicated herself to helping the mentally and physically handicapped citizens of the Globe-Miami area. She worked for Project PPEP prior to her employment with Horizon Human Services. She had been a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary since 1992 and she enjoyed playing Bingo.

King leaves behind four children: Angelia (Kenneth) Ford of Globe, Timothy Stutler and Jesse King of Chandler, and Tonia Powell of Phoenix; her sisters Phyllis (Buck) Higginbotham of Miami and Terri Jo (Charlie) Knight of Globe. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Terry Belinda Nunneviller.

Services were held Dec. 19, at Miles Funeral Services, Miami Chapel. Interment was at Mt. Breeze Memorial Gardens, west of Miami.

Miles Mortuary assisted the family.
