George Howard Janes

George Howard Janes passed away Saturday, March 12, 2005, at the New Horizon Care Center in Prescott Valley, Ariz. George was born Jan. 25, 1916, in El Paso, Texas, to Charles Conner Janes and Freddie May (Barlow) Janes.

George graduated from Pasadena High School. He met his wife, Eleanor, in Pasadena and they were married there. George worked in South Gate, Calif., for the Purex Corporation until his retirement in 1971. George and Eleanor then moved to Prescott where he worked for Yavapai County in the Assessor's Department until he was 86 years old. Eleanor preceded George in death in June of 2002. George loved fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

George is survived by his son, Fred, and his wife, Sandee of Prescott; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; Yvonne Bondelid and daughter, Karina of Camarillo, Calif., Yvetter and John Leaper of Monterey, Calif., Scott and Tracy Keilman of Prescott Valley, and Rob and Leah of Mesa.

The family would like to thank the YRMC Hospice, Heidi, Alice, Monica, and Sherrie and April and Brad at the New Horizons Care Center for their loving care of our 'Papa.'

A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, March 18th, at the First Lutheran Church, 231 Smoketree Lane, in Prescott. Pastor Roth will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations honoring George's life be directed to the YRMC Hospice, P.O. Box 26565, Prescott Valley, Ariz., 86312-6565.

The Hampton Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
