Lupe (Acker) Mariscal

Lupe Acker Mariscal, completed her long and beautiful journey on this earth Dec. 11, 2006 at Hospice of Arizona in Mesa.

She was born February 8, 1907 to Frank and Carmen Acker in Chinipas, Chihuahua, Mexico. Lupe was preceded in death by her husband, George Mariscal, Sr., as well as her sister Carmen and brothers Frank, Ernest and George.

Surviving are: her daughter, Gloria (Carlos) Martinez; her son, George Mariscal; a niece Mary Jo Drury; a sister-in-law, Eva L. Acker; eight grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. There are five living generations in this family.

Lupe was a charter member of VFW Auxiliary Post #3584 and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for 68 years. She owned Lupe's Gift Shop for many years.

A visitation and rosary were held Dec. 16, followed by Father Marcos Velasquez celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church in Superior. Pallbearers were the grandchildren; George Martinez, Carlos Martinez, Gloria Trenholme, Tony Martinez, John Martinez, Lisa Thomas, Virginia Martinez and Jimmy Mariscal. Honorary pallbearers were nephews: Arthur Mariscal, Manuel Mariscal, Rudy Mariscal, Robert Muro, George Mariscal, Dewey Mawson and Albert Guzman.

Interment was at Fairview Cemetery followed by a Luncheon of Mercy at Los Hermano's Ballroom.
