Wade E. Church, 94, of Phoenix, Arizona services will be December 14, 2002 at Central United Methodist Church, 1875 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix. Mr. Church was a member and Sunday School Teacher of the "Merry Mates" at the same church for over 50 years. Wade Church was a retired Lawyer and was born in Helena, Montana on May 4, 1908. He graduated Valedictorian from UCLA in 1933 and from Harvard Law School in 1938. He started his career as Personal Director for Atkinson-Kier Construction Company from 1938-40, the company which built the Hoover Dam. He then joined the state AFL/CIO in 1943-47 as Secretary/Treasure, and then President. From 1941-42 he was Assistant City Attorney for the City of Phoenix. From 1958-60 he was Attorney General for the State of Arizona. Mr. Church is survived by his wife Bess, and sons Phillip, Allen and Tom Church, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Church's first wife, Margaret Church died in 1995. The Arizona Republic December 11, 2002 |
