Dean Searfoss

Dean Searfoss died at his home in Ione, Calif., Jan. 13, 2005.

Dean is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jaqueline, and their children and mates, Michael and Patsy Searfoss of West Melbourne, Fla., Karen and Chris Jensen of Ione, Calif., and Kathie and Ron Mitchell of Mesa. He leaves behind nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Dean served in the Army infantry during WWII as a Lieutenant and was honorably discharged in 1943. He served for 27 years with the Los Angeles County Sheriff?s Department, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1974.

He and Jaque then moved to the Prescott area. Their desire to travel took them to various states, eventually settling in Ione, Calif.
He attended school in Mt. Blanchard, Ohio, and graduated from Finlay, Ohio, High School. He graduated from the Institute of Applied Science of crime detection and attended Los Angeles State College and U.S.C.
Dean was affiliated with the Masonic bodies of the Masons for more than 60 years. In 1973, he was president of the Peace Officers Shrine Club of Los Angeles, Calif. He remained a member in good standing with the Aztlan F.&A.M. Lodge No. 1, Prescott. He was an avid Ham radio operator (call #N7HIH), and enjoyed the computer. Dean was a charter member at Mingus View Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder and Deacon and on various committees.

A Memorial service will be held at Mingus View Presbyterian Church, Prescott Valley, Ariz., on Sunday, March 6, at 3 p.m.

Graveside services and cremains interment will take place at Zion Boom Cemetery in Vanlue, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hospice of Amador County, P.O. Box 595, Jackson, Calif. 95642 or to the church.
