Mildred Violet (Plattner) Swartz

Mildred Violet Swartz of Prescott, Ariz., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 17, 2008. Born on April 4, 1908, in Coffeeville, Kan., she was the daughter of Emil and Anna (Hunenberder) Plattner. She was 100 years old.

Millie led a long and active life, keeping busy until the very end. She was a frequent volunteer at the Prescott Senior Center, where she loved to be a greeter. She was also a member of the Mile-Hi Square Dance Club and Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. She loved animals of all kinds and was especially good at training them. She claimed that she could teach them to do everything but talk.

Millie is survived by her stepson Robert Allen Poage of Niles, Mich., and stepdaughter Helen McKee of Washougal, Wash.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 1202 Green Lane, Prescott, followed by a celebration of Millie’s life at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
