Billie Joe Smith went to his heavenly reward on July 21, 2008. Billie passed away at the Las Fuentes Care Center in Prescott, Ariz. He was born March 13, 1939, in Clanton, Ala., the son of Alvin and Myrtle (Davis) Smith. Billie was 69 years old.

Billie loved gardening, fishing, bowling, baseball and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Chino Valley, Ariz. He was especially proud of his family and had a strong faith in God.

Billie is survived by his loving and caring wife, Kay, of 31 years; children Judy (Willard) Brewer of Metropolis, Ill., David Smith of Joliet, Ill., James (Kathy) Smith of Chandler, Ariz., Julie (Lyle) Jones of Munford, Tenn., Andy (Lisa) Smith of Phoenix, Ariz., Donny Smith of Phoenix, Ariz., Davey (Linda) Piper of Phoenix, Ariz., Vicki (Carey) McDonald of Phoenix, Ariz., and Ginger (Dave) Doyle of Glendale, Ariz.; brothers Earl Smith of Conway, Ark., and Doug Smith of Tempe, Ariz.; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, at Grace Baptist Church, Highway 89 and Outer Loop Road, Chino Valley, Ariz.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in Billie’s name to Grace Baptist Church, Highway 89 and Outer Loop Road, Chino Valley, Ariz.

The Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
