KATIE B. ADAMS

Former columnist for The Sun, Katie B. Adams, died last Saturday in Wickenburg Community Hospital just two days short of her 80th birthday.

Starting June 26, 1975, “Kathie B’s Kitchen” appeared in THE Sun – a column which reflected her pioneer background.

Mrs. Adams also wrote Congress news. Her last column appeared on June 16 last year. Later that month, she was injured in a fall and stopped writing her column.

Mrs. Adams was born in Texas, moved to Kingman at the age of 17 years, and to Congress area in the 20s. During World War II, she ran the old Congress Hotel, since razed by fire.

In a story written by Maggie Wilson of the Arizona Republic last year, it was reported a collection of Mrs. Adams’ adventures were to be published soon.

Surviving are two daughters, Paula Adams of Wickenburg and Lorraine Adams of Tampa, Fla., also five sisters, and a brother.

Pastor Coney Orosco, Jr., of the Foursquare Gospel Church officiated at services on Tuesday. Private interment was at Congress Cemetery.
