James Douglas Ambrose

James D. Ambrose, age 81, embarked on a peaceful journey on Saturday, March 26, 2005. He was born on April 24, 1923. He was the only child of Fay and Floretta Ambrose.

He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 26 years. He was a devout Christian man who filled the pulpit for many congregations and was always happy to be asked. He was an excellent speaker. He read his Bible daily. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Frances Ambrose. He moved to Prescott after he retired in 1990.

He is survived by his wife, Dorthey F. Ambrose, his four sons, James and his wife, Connie, David and his wife, Nancy, Larry and Phillip Ambrose, all of California. Also his ten grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

The viewing will be held today, March 30, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave. in Prescott.

Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, March 31, at Mt. Vernon Church of Christ, 120 N. Mt. Vernon Ave., in Prescott.

Services entrusted to Heritage Memory Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the New Mexico Christian Children's Home in care of Mt. Vernon Church of Christ, 120 N. Mt. Vernon Ave., Prescott, Az 86301.
