Darrell K. Evans Darrell K. Evans, 86, died Friday, October 13, 2006 at his home in Prescott. He was born to T.K. and Lula (Cosner) Evans in Dodson, Maryland on September 21, 1920. He served in the US Army during WWII in the Aleutian Islands. After completing his military service he attended Texas Western College in El Paso, Texas under the GI Bill. He began his career in education in El Paso. He moved with his family to Morenci, Arizona in 1955 where he was a teacher of Biology and Vice-Principal at Morenci High School. Moving to Prescott in 1966, he became superintendent of the Chino Valley Schools, from which position he retired in 1983. A loving and committed family man, he was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hiking. He also was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church for 40 years. In retirement he traveled to every state in the Union, and volunteered with Prescott People Who Care, Yavapai Regional Medical Center, and Prescott Litter Lifters. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hope (MacKeil) Evans, by three sons, Darrell Jr. (Connie) of Ohio, Bart (Cris) of Gilbert, Az. And Mark (Karen) of California, by nine grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Jean Hall of Virginia and Eva Hall of California, and brothers F.T. Evans of Maryland and Kenneth Hipp of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his son, Terrence. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 630 Park Avenue, Prescott at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 21, 2006. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Trinity Presbyterian Church Music Department or the Arizona Chapter of the American Heart Association.
