JoAnn (Ellis) Kennedy

COOLIDGE - JoAnn Kennedy, 71, died Dec. 30, 2006 at Deborah's House care center in Casa Grande, with her family by her side.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Simes Mortuaries Coolidge Chapel. The funeral will follow at 2, with Pastor John Davis officiating. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park.

Mrs. Kennedy was born July 13, 1935 in Lubbock, Texas, to Ivy and Josephine (Mantooth) Ellis. She lived in Coolidge for 39 years.

She and her husband owned and operated Kennedy Shoe Shop from 1967 to 1995, and she owned and operated the Kennedy's Knickknacks store from 1995 to 2000 in Coolidge. She loved her flower garden, dogs Jazzy and Ginger and yard sales.

Known as "Nanny" to her grandchildren, she was described by her family as a private person with an enjoyable personality.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Barney; two sons, Tim Kennedy of Yuma and Randy Kennedy of Mesa; a daughter, Vicki Sibley of Tucson; a brother, Tommy Ellis of Duncan, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
