Thomas B. Mitchell

Thomas passed away on Jan. 3, 2005, at his home in Prescott. He was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa, on Dec. 11, 1944, to Mabel and Ambrose Mitchell.

Thom grew up in Laurens, Iowa, then attended Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, and the University of Iowa where he earned his Masters in Social Work. He worked at VA hospitals in Knoxville and Des Moines, Iowa, until 1978 when he moved with his family to Arizona. He worked at the VA hospital in Prescott as a Social Worker in the Substance Abuse Treatment Program and later as a Medical Administrator.

Thom is survived by his wife of 35 years, Connie; sons, Eric and Ryan, both of Tempe; daughter, Maura of West Hollywood, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Yvette; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Velma Mitchell of Yuma, Az.; sister and brother-in-law, Marcia and Jim Hurley of Altoona, Iowa; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jo and Mark Witt also of Altoona; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and Ambrose.

A Rosary will be held at Heritage Memory Mortuary on Wednesday, Jan. 5th, at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass in celebration of Thom's life will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 6th, at St. Germaine Catholic Church in Prescott Valley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Catholic Social Service, 434 W. Gurley, Prescott, Az.
