Robert Julius Carlsen passed away Oct. 28, 2009 in Lake Havasu City, at the age of 86. He was born to Thorbjorn and Lillian (Morison) Carlsen on Jan. 20, 1923, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Robert served his country proudly under the direction of the U.S. Navy during World War II. While serving, he was Aviation Metal Smith First Class. Robert was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theatre Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

He was a past commander of the VFW Post No. 1240, and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed being an amateur radio operator, a pilot, an inventor and he loved to ski. Robert was also captain of the Crestone Baca Volunteer Fire Department, an E.M.T. and an ambulance driver.

Robert leaves behind his beloved wife, Beth Carlsen, whom he married Dec. 11, 2002. His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
