Joey Daniel Roy Heredero went home to be with the Lord June 11, 2010, at the UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, Calif., at the age of 22 following a one-year, four-month battle with osteosarcoma. Joey was born on June 30, 1987 in Tarzana, Calif., to Joe and Linda (Marinussen) Heredero.

Joey and his family moved to Lake Havasu City nine years ago from Winnetka, Calif. He worked at Mohave Community College as a computer tech and attended school there for the past three years, pursuing a career in computers. He was into drawing, playing computer games, all types of water sports and restoring his 1981 Trans Am. He was also an avid Lakers fan, cheering on his team during his many hospital stays. During his illness, Joey endured many treatments and operations, yet never complained. He had a smile that lit up the room, and an encouraging word for everyone. He was very much loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Joey is survived by his parents, Joe and Linda Heredero, of Lake Havasu City; sister, Desiree Keller and her husband Roger, of Yuma, and Rhiannon Heredero of Lake Havasu City; grandparents, Victor and Edith Marinussen, of Fort Mohave; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of Joey’s life will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lakeview Community Church with Pastor Ray Carter offering words of comfort and inspiration. Interment will follow at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a website established to assist the Heredero family with medical and funeral expenses at www.joeyherederosfund.webs.com.

Thoughts and condolences may be submitted to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com.
