Joyce Dunn, 78, of Prescott, Ariz., born Jan. 5, 1926, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Hospice of Arizona in Peoria, Ariz.

A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m, Tuesday, May 4, at First Congregational Church, 216 E. Guriey St., Prescott, Ariz.

Joyce D. Dunn died April 28, 2004, at Freedom Plaza Care Center in Peoria. She was born Jan. 5, 1926, in Detroit, Mich. She was the daughter of Harry and Virginia (Buchner) Deming.

Joyce was 78 years old. Joyce moved with her family to Prescott in 1957, from California.

She began her career with the City of Prescott as a cashier and at the time of her retirement, she was Deputy Treasurer for the City.

Joyce married Edward (Gene) Dunn on April 3, 1970. He preceded her in death in 1998.

Joyce was a member of the First Congregational Church, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, Theta Chapter and Bible Study Group.

She and Gene were active members of "Smoki People," and Joyce was Chieftess "Pet'la" (Little Fire) in 1983.

She enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren, doing crossword puzzles, reading and traveling.

She and Gene took many special trips in their travel trailer. She traveled to Italy by herself to visit her family in 2003. She was a true and loyal friend to many.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Charles Rhodes of Newport, R.L, and son, Gary Johnson of Seattle, Wash.; step-daughter, Linda Rogers of Glendale; and stepson and his wife, Gary and Sally Dunn of Prescott; daughter-in-law, Karen Cochran of Phoenix; grandsons, Nicholas, Matthew, Daniel and Adam; granddaughters, Elizabeth, Shannon, Pamela and Lisa; and great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Christopher.

She was very proud of her extended family.

A Celebration of Joyce Dunn's life will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 4th, at the First Congregational Church, 212 East Gurley, with private inurnment, with her beloved "Gene" at Mountain View Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials to American Stroke Foundation, 8700 Lamar, Overland Park, Kansas, 66207.

Arizona Rufmer Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the famiiy.
