Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, April 25, 2004 Gladys Emily Pike, of Bagdad, Ariz., died April 21, 2004, in Prescott Valley, Ariz. She was born on Nov. 21, 1915, in Las Animas, Colo., to John and Alice Beatrice (Anderson) Hill. Gladys was a pioneer for Central Arizona. She lived in Arizona since the age of 2 and met Stanley Pike in Walker and married him on Sept. 12, 1935. They lived and worked many places around Arizona including Globe-Miami, the Vulcan Mine in Wickenburg, Prescott and Bagdad. They moved to Bagdad in 1945. She was a school board member, on the election board, member of the Church of Christ, and belonged to the American Legion Post 104 in Bagdad. She is survived by six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a daughter-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Stanley Pike; son, Lt. Col. . James E. Pike (another son, Lt. Cmdr. Dennis S. Pike, is missing in action); daughter-in-law, Nancy (Apple) Pike; and six brothers and sisters. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, April 26, at Heritage Memory Mortuary, with the service following at 2 p.m. at Heritage Memory Mortuary Chapel. Heritage Memory Mortuary assisted the family with the services. Information provided by survivors. |
