James Howard (Jimmy) Tersey James H. Tersey, age 85, of Prescott, Ariz., died Friday, June 24, 2005, at the VA Hospital in Prescott. He was born in Chicago, Ill., in 1920, and grew up in Battle Creek, Mich. He moved to Arizona in 1934 to help with the family business and attend Phoenix Union High School. Following service in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII, he returned and attended two years at the University of Arizona. He lived for a time in Copper Basin and then moved into Prescott in 1946, where he lived for 59 years. In 1950, he married Shirley Ann Kentch. In 1982, he retired from the Arizona Highway Department as an engineering lab technician. For the last 20 years, he ran a business selling refurbished office chairs throughout the state. He was known as the 'Chair Man.' He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley of Prescott; three sons, Dale, Darrell and Terry and their families; brother, Mark of Florida; three grandchildren, Brandon, Kolin and Amanda. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 27, at 1 p.m., at the VA Chapel in Fort Whipple in Prescott, Ariz. Services entrusted to Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., Prescott, Ariz. |
