Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Friday, October 21, 2005 James Mack McCoy, age 82, died Oct. 16, 2005, at Las Fuentes Care Center in Prescott, Ariz. He was born May 4, 1923, in St. Louis. Mo., to David McCoy and Florence Moore McCoy. James served in WWII from Dec. 2, 1942, until Oct. 16, 1945, when he was honorably discharged. During his tour of duty, he received a Campaign Medal with 5 bronze service stars, a Good Conduct Medal, and a WWII Victory Medal. He served in five countries in his specialty as a radio operator high speed 777 and obtained additional military qualifications for carbine, rifle marksman, and vehicle driver. After his military service, James resided in Wooster, Ohio, where he worked for Gertsensaulgers, making bookmobiles. In 1971, he moved his family to Prescott. He worked at the copper mine in Bagdad, before starting his own business as a handyman and landscaper. James is survived by three daughters, Peggy Ann Flack of Wooster, Ohio, Barbara Ann McCoy-Nelson of Humboldt and Mary Jane McCoy of Mountain View, Mo.; sons, Charles McCoy of Oklahoma and Robert, Bryan, Ryan and Richard of Dewey, Ariz.; sisters, Ester Bowman of Wooster, Ohio, and Ada Webb of Florida; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Lou Amos Pagniano McCoy; his son, David McCoy; his mother and father; sisters, Virginia and Freda; and brother, David McCoy. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 21, at the Humboldt Community Cemetery, with the American Legion Post #6 rendering military honors.
