Albert F. Streeck

Posted 2010-06-29 by susan
Albert F. Streeck, age 90, a long time resident of Golden Shores, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 in Bullhead City, Arizona.

He was born October 18, 1919, in Plankinton, South Dakota. His parents, Frederick and Goldie Streeck, had five children and Albert was the third of five children in the family. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. The family moved to Van Nuys, California in 1941, where Albert worked in the aircraft industry during WW II, and was a foreman at Timm Aircraft Company which built training aircraft for the Army Air Corps.

Albert met his soul mate, Julia M. Streeck, after his family moved to Southern Calif. Their love for each other led to holy matrimony on July 10, 1944, while Albert was in the Army at Ft. Benning, Ga. Albert said, "I finally made her an offer she couldn't refuse!" They had a few months together before Albert went overseas to serve with the 71st Infantry Division in Europe, while Julia stayed at home with her parents. Albert served in combat operations in Germany and Austria, and then further served with the army of occupation in the months that followed armed conflict. Albert was a proud veteran of WW II and very much loved his country and his countrymen.

After his return from service, they became a family when Frederick Andrew Streeck was born in 1947, and Gregory Albert Streeck was born in 1950. Albert ended a successful working career as a life insurance and investment professional with Aid Association for Lutherans.

After a recovering from colon cancer in 1979, he and Julia lived in the San Fernando Valley before moving to their beloved Arizona where they lived for the past 18 years. The lifelong roles of husband, father, brother, uncle, soldier and friend blended with a wry sense of humor and a love for harmonica music, can only partially describe Albert's characteristics and personality that will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Albert loved using puns, jokes, and funny phrases to describe ordinary and common features of everyday life.

Albert was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Julia Streeck, whom he deeply loved and tenderly cared for in the years before her passing in 2009. He was also preceded by the passing of his parents and his siblings, Lola, Eva, George and Clyde. Albert had strong faith and a firm belief that he would see his family once again and did not waiver in his belief, even during his last few days.

Left behind are his two sons, Frederick (Joanne) of Lake Tapps, Wash., and Gregory (Jenny) of Quartz Hill, Calif.; granddaughter, Katherine Streeck of Seattle, Wash.; grandson, Eric Streeck of Kirkland, Wash.; and many special nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at Desert Lawn Funeral Home, Crematory & Memorial Gardens, 9250 S. Ranchero Lane, Mohave Valley, Ariz. Dr. William Dreikor, Hospice Chaplin, will be officiating.

The Family requests in lieu of flowers, donations in Albert's memory be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Association of America: JDRF Northwest, 1215 Fourth Ave, Suite 1400 Seattle, WA 98161
