LaVerne Jacqueline Wohlwend

LaVerne Jacqueline Wohlwend, age 76, passed away on Oct. 22, 2005, at
her son's home in Washington, with family at her side. She was born Oct. 30, 1928, in San Francisco, Calif. She married Roland Wohlwend on May 17, 1947.

After residing in Oakland and Fremont, Calif., they moved to Prescott in 1961 and raised their five children. LaVerne attended the Presbyterian Church and worked at the Prescott Hospital and for the DES.

In 1976, they realized their life's dream and moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. LaVerne became a music editor for Hawkins Audio Engineers
and was administrative secretary at Kaimuki Christian Church. They
returned to Phoenix in 1980, and LaVerne worked as executive secretary at GTE for 13 years before she and her husband retired to reside in Sun City West.

LaVerne loved her church and played an integral role in evolving the design and building of Sun City West Christian Church. In spite of the
limitations of Parkinson's disease (PKD), she continued to travel, paint, sew, and nurture her growing family.

LaVerne is survived by her children, daughter, Conni Wohlwend Reece of Flagstaff, and sons, Randy of Prescott Valley, Carl of Gleneden, Ore., Chris of Chehalis, Wash., and Eric of Prescott Valley. She is also survived by l7 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 2nd, at 11 a.m., at
Prescott Valley Christian Church.
